"Summer Farming Success with Guar Beans"
Bharat Mansingh Rathore, Subhashwadi
I am Bharat Mansingh Rathore, a farmer from Subhashwadi village, owning six acres of land. Like many others in my village, I faced water scarcity, which limited my ability to grow crops beyond the monsoon season. I always wished to make better use of my land, but without enough water, my options were limited. However, things changed when NIWAS and Marico took up the Nala Desilting Project near my village. The desilted nala now retains more water, improving water availability for irrigation. This allowed me to experiment with a summer crop—something I had never done before. I decided to plant Gavar (cluster beans) on just 0.5 acres (20 R) of land. To my surprise, I earned ₹31,000 from this small patch, and I am set to earn above another ₹21,000 in the coming weeks. This experience has opened my eyes to new possibilities.
